The building captures the sense of curiosity, surprise and discovery that inspires scientists to seek answers to the most challenging questions.
Researchers in the Vontz Center are focused on on the basic biology of cancer, endocrinology, and neuroscience. By studying the genetic and cellular causes and possible cures for diseases such as diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer's and stroke, researchers can impact the lives of millions of people. A permanent display in the lobby honors Albert B. Sabin, MD, the dedicated physician and faculty member whose research at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and Children's Hospital Medical Center led to the breakthrough live oral polio vaccine in 1960. His discovery saved millions of children worldwide from polio's crippling effects. |
